Today is the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time: In today’s Gospel Jesus calls us to go beyond the letter of the law in order to live a more authentic life of faith. We give thanks to God our Father for the blessing of freedom which we have received. Secure in one another’s forgiveness we can now offer our gifts on His altar with simplicity of heart.

 

Novena of Hope 2020: Takes place from 29th Feb – 9th March 2020.  It begins at the  Vigil Mass (Saturday 29th Feb) and on Sunday 1st March  @ 9am, 10.30am, 12noon and 4pm. Fr Charles Cross will speak at all the Masses.

Monday 2nd March – Sr Susan Mc Grath @ 12.30pm & 7.30pm. 

Tuesday March 3rd   – Fr Niall Coll @  12.30pm & 7.30pm.(Penance Services )

Novena Posters: For anyone who was unable to attend the meeting last Monday night, posters and leaflets are available for distribution at reception today. Please come along and pick up your posters.  

 

Children:  In preparation for the Novena of Hope we invite children through schools, and individually to submit posters.

Car Park: We need people to help in the car park during the Novena at the midday services. Please contact Eugene Wilson on 66324029  or leave your name and address at our Reception.

Please take a petition leaflet home with you from the Church porches and return them in good time so they can be placed on the altar during the Novena.   

Eucharistic Ministers & Readers: Please return your reply slips for the Novena as soon as possible.

 

Feasts of the Week: Mon: Feast of the Seven Holy Founders of the Servite Order: This order has a foundation in Benburb Co. Tyrone. St. Fintan: Irish monk died in 603 in Clonenagh Co. Laois. Fri: Passionist Feast of the Solemn Commemoration of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. (This feast day is alway held on the Friday before Ash Wednesday). St. Peter Damian (1007-1072) gave up teaching to become a hermit. Later he became a Cardinal and was an outstanding reformer of Church life and discipline.

Sat: The Chair of St. Peter. This feast celebrates Peter as bishop of Rome and the focus of unity in the communion of the one faith.

 

Guild Mass Cards: We have a new selection of cards for Deceased, Mass Bouquets, Get Well, Birthday, Special Occasion, Thinking of You & Exam Mass Bouquets which cost £2 / €2.50 each. We also have new St Patrick’s Day Mass Bouquets available.

Vocation Retreat: A weekend retreat for young men interested in knowing more about life as a priest or brother in the Passionist Community will be held at the Passionist Monastery, Tobar Mhuire, Crossgar, County Down, beginning on the evening of Friday, 13 March and concluding with lunch on Sunday, 15 March. Anyone interested in taking part should speak to contact Fr Victor at The Graan or contact Father Paul Francis at passionistvocations@gmail.com
