Weekly Bulletin 22nd December 2019

Sunday Collection: Came to £1625. Thank you for your generosity as always. The will be a Development Collection taken up after Communion today.

Today is the Fourth Sunday of Advent: Today all the candles on the outside of our Advent wreath are lit. On Midnight Mass on this Tuesday night the central white candle will be lit representing the birth of the Son of God into our world. Today in the  Gospel Matthew tells the birth story of Jesus from the perspective of St. Joseph. In biblical tradition a name defines the characteristics of a person. In  giving the name Jesus to the child his mission is outlined. “He will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Jesus is also Emmanuel “God is with us “(Matthew 1:23)

Congratulations to Fr Arthur Mc Cann of this community who celebrated his Golden Jubilee of Ordination on Saturday 21st December. Arthur ministered for many years in Botswana. We wish him good health into the future and we thank God for his priestly ministry that he shares so generously with is.
