Sunday Collection: Came to £1405. Thank you as always for your generous contributions. There will be a Development Collection taken up after Communion today.
Today is the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time: Today’s Gospel opens with an account of Jesus preaching out in the open. The News proclaimed at a cross-road is an ideal starting point for it to take flight with the aid of the Holy Spirit. Today also is the first Sunday of the Word of God. This is a day set aside by Pope Francis for celebration, study, and spreading of the Word of God. One of the great blessings of the liturgical reform and renewal flowing from the Second Vatican Council is a greater appreciation of the foundational role of the Word of God in every liturgical celebration and a greater awareness of the role of the Word of God in the life of faith. Catholic Schools Week also begins today.
Next Sunday is the Presentation of the Lord: Candlemas Day: Candles will be blessed after the 6.30pm Vigil Mass on Saturday(1st Feb) and Sunday (2nd) at the 10.30am, 12noon & 4pm Masses.
There are candles on sale in our shop.
