Weekly Bulletin 29th December 2019

Sunday Collection last Sunday: Came to £1760.   The Development Collection came to £802.     Thank you for your generosity as always.  

Thank you for your continued generosity to The Graan. We sincerely want to thank you for your outstanding contribution to the community at the Christmas Liturgical celebrations. Your support gives us great encouragement in our effort to preach the Gospel.

Today is the feast day of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. This feast day puts no emphasis on the miraculous or the marvellous but the story of a child over whom God watches particularly, in a family at the mercy of the historical and political cross-currents of the time. In its ready response to the word of God the Holy Family is a model for all Christian families

Happy New Year: We wish each and every one of you a happy and blessed New Year from all of us at The Graan Monastery. May 2020 bring you many blessings.

A New Year’s Prayer: May God make your year a happy one! / Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain, / But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes; / Not by making your path easy, / But by making you sturdy to travel any path; / Not by taking hardships from you, But by taking fear from your heart; / Not by granting you unbroken sunshine, / But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows; / Not by making your life always pleasant, But by showing you when people and their causes need you most, / and by making you anxious to be there to help. God’s love, peace, hope and joy to you for the year ahead.

Feasts of the Week: Wednesday: Mary, the Holy Mother of God:- God chose Mary so that his Son should come among us, born of our race. Thursday:- St. Basil the Great and Gregory of Naziansen: Basil (330–79) Bishop of Caesarea lived an ascetic life establishing norms for the monastic life. He was a good theologian. Gregory (329-89) was a friend of Basil, was Bishop of Sasima and later of Constantinople. He retired to live a monastic life. Friday:  St. Munchin – Patron of the Diocese of Limerick. Also the Feast day of the Holy Name of Jesus. The month of January is traditionally dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus. 

Today Sunday 29th – Masses @ 10.30am, 12noon & 4pm. The shop will be open 9.30am – 5pm.

Monday 30^th & Tuesday New Year’s Eve – Mass @ 11am only. The shop will be open until 12noon.

New Year’s Day (Wednesday) – Mass @ 11am. The shop will be open until 12noon.

Confessions will resume on Thursday 2^nd Jan 2020 from 2pm – 5pm – Charles. The shop will open at 9.30am – 8.30pm. Friday – Duty 2 – 5pm – Charles. Saturday – 5 – 6pm – Victor.  

January’s Church Cleaning group will meet on Wednesday 8^th January 2020.

Exposition resumes on Friday 3rd January 2020.

Aisling Centre 3^rd Hope, Healing & Growth, well-being event, Saturday 4^th Jan 10am – 4pm, a packed programme of Inspirational and Motivational speakers with keynotes, life stories and workshops.  Plenary guest Adrian Dunbar.  All proceeds in support of counselling services at Aisling Centre.  Tickets available via Eventbrite or contact Aisling Centre 028 66 325811
